Mempercepat Windows XP

A. MEN-DISABLE INDEXING SERVICES

Indexing Services merupakan program kecil yang memakan banyak memori.Untuk mendisable caranya:
1. Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
5. Click the Add/Remove Window Components
6. Uncheck the Indexing services
7. Click Next

B. MENG-OPTIMALKAN SETTINGAN DISPLAY

Untuk mengoptimise:
1.Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click System
5. Click Advanced tab
6. Pada tab Performance click Settings
7. Uncheck semua, kecuali:
- Show shadows under menus
- Show shadows under mouse pointer
- Show translucent selection rectangle
- Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons

C. MEMPERCEPAT BROWSING PADA FOLDER

Windows XP secara otomatis mencari file network dan printer setiap membuka windows Explorer sehingga ada delay saat mem-browse folder. untuk mempercepat caranya:

1. Open My Computer
2. Click on Tools menu
3. Click on Folder Options
4. Click on the View tab.
5. Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
6. Click Apply
7. Click Ok
8. Reboot komputer


D. MENINGKATKAN PENGGUNAAN MEMORI

Program shareware Cacheman akan menambah performance komputer dengan cara mengoptimasikan disk cache, memori.

1.Gunakan Show Wizard dan select All
2.Jalankan semua wizards dengan mengclick tombol Next dan lakukan sesuai petunjuk hingga selesai dan kembali ke menu utama.
3.Exit and Save Cacheman
4.Restart Windows


E. MENG-OPTIMALKAN KONEKSI INTERNET

Jalankan program TCP/IP Optimizer.

1. Download dan install
2. Click tab General Settings and pilih kecepatan koneksi (Kbps)
3. Click Network Adapter dan pilih interface yang digunakan untuk koneksi ke internet.
4. Check Optimal Settings kemudian Apply
5. Reboot

F. MENG-OPTIMALKAN PAGEFILE

1. click kanan pada My Computer dan pilih Properties
2. Pilih tab Advanced
3. Di Performance click tombol Settings
4. Pilih tab Advanced lagi, kemudian pada Virtual Memory click Change
5. Buat initial Size sama dengan Maximum Size.

Defaultnya adalah 1.5X RAM. Jika RAM 512MB atau lebih, ganti ratio menjadi 1:1.


G. SPEEDUP FOLDER ACCESS - DISABLE LAST ACCESS UPDATE

Jika mempunyai banyak folder dan subdirektori dalam komputer sehingga membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk mengaksesnya. Lakukan edit pada registry sebagai berikut:

1. Go to Start kemudian Run dan ketik “regedit”
2. Klick sampai “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem”
3. Right-click in a blank area of the window on the right and select ‘DWORD Value’
4. Buat DWORD Value dan berinama‘NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate’
5. Kemudian Right click new value dan pilih ‘Modify’
6. Ganti Value Data to '1'
7. Click ‘OK’


H. MAKE YOUR MENUS LOAD FASTER

1. Go to Start kemudian Run
2. Ketik ‘Regedit’ kemudian click ‘Ok’
3. Cari “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\”
4. Pilih “MenuShowDelay”
5. Right click dan pilih “Modify’
6. Kurangi hingga "100"
7. merupakan waktu delay sebelum menu dibuka. Dapat dirubah ke nomor yang lebih kecil misal antara 50-150, dapat juga diganti hingga "0".
